Tourism & Leisure
As part of its mission of developing port and waterway activity, the Autonomous Port of Paris is playing an active role in the growth in river tourism by building new mooring places and ports...
The world's N°1 port for tourism
With over seven million passengers transported in 2008, the Autonomous Port of Paris is the busiest inland port in the world for tourism.
River tourism in Ile-de-France is organised around:
- some sixty or so passenger boat companies and a fleet of more than 110 boats. Several products really stand out: guided river trips with or without meals, cruises, on-board receptions and seminars.
- some thirty companies and associations operating floating establishments that are open to the public. They offer receptions, seminars, musical entertainment and theatre, restaurant service, discotheques and exhibitions.
Objectives:
To develop waterway tourism by encouraging tourists and visitors to taste the pleasures of the Seine, Marne, Oise, Yonne and Loing rivers. Also to provide boat transport in Paris and the Ile-de-France region, using a mode of transport that generates little CO2 and can reduce all the inconvenience caused by tourist coaches (especially in the centre of Paris).
Practical guide to waterway projects
This practical guide has been put together for all those wishing to create a project on the water: moored boats, reception or passenger boats... It lists all the formalities to be completed, the people to contact and the documents required to bring your project to fruition.
A host of activities on the water
There are a number of different activities along the banks of the waterways managed by the Autonomous Port of Paris. There are excursions on the water, cruises, river shuttle services, the possibility of organising receptions on board or on the quaysides, of hiring a boat and discovering the fun and sporting pleasures to be had on the waterways, including river shuttle services and activities for children, among others. The Autonomous Port of Paris is also constantly at work to increase its passenger transport boat capacity and to diversify the business and leisure activities available to the broadest possible audience.
Flood information and recommendation guide
This practical guide has been designed to inform users of the Seine River located along its banks, and to help them to organise and manage their boats during flooding. (Latest update: February 2007). After some general information about floods, the working of the Paris reach and a reminder of some of the rules to be observed during high water, you will find some basic guidelines on mooring boats and managing them during flooding.
An information sheet lists the available sources of information about the situation and how to get flood forecasts.
