River transport: ecological, efficient and responsible
Promoting river transport is the key focus of Autonomous Port of Paris environmental policy. As well as making an essential contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution from road transport, the Port has established an environmental action plan to guide its port facility development policy.
Promoting river transport: a national priority.
Not only is river transport free of congestion and noise pollution, it also consumes 5 times less fuel and emits 2.5 times less CO2. It is greener, safer and provides the perfect response to the aims of the Grenelle Environmental Forum to increase alternative forms of transport by 25%.
Lower emissions, less pollution and real potential.
Far from being saturated, traffic in the ports of the Ile de France region could be tripled, thereby taking some 2 million trucks off the roads. To coordinate and promote this development, the Autonomous Port of Paris is developing and enhancing the ports and river network to provide an exemplary environmental solution.
Thanks to property and financial incentives, subsidies and supply-chain advice provided to companies, the Autonomous Port of Paris is supporting the switch of activity to river transport.
