The network of waterways is the only transport system we have that is not at saturation point, and is therefore the solution to the road congestion problems of the Ile-de-France region.

The Autonomous Port of Paris can provide you with its technical expertise and its familiarity with the different operators and the financial incentives on offer to help you set up transport systems that are environmentally friendly.

Although our clients are of course free to choose the mode of transport they wish, we do encourage them to incorporate the waterways into their supply chain by offering financial incentives and by constructing the appropriate modal transfer facilities on the land provided.
In addition to the investments we make on our own sites, we can also contribute to your own investments in private port facilities by subsidising the necessary superstructures in return for a guarantee to transport a certain tonnage by waterway.

Finally, we are working to promote the installation of companies offering handling services on each of the 10 platforms. 

An ideal solution: the waterways

Capacity: waterways offer much greater "volume" and "load" capacities than other types of transport.

Adapted fleets: from 300-tonne barges to 5,000-tonne tow convoys, a variety of gauges exist with holds for all kinds of goods.

Flexibility: with "turnkey" solutions comprising river transport plus pick-up and delivery haulage and handling services, the waterway solution adapts to your supply chain by providing a door-to-door solution.

Finally, for the destination of the materials, the necessary contacts with site operators or for re-use of the materials can be handled by the Autonomous Port of Paris.

Reliability: the waterways offer maximum availability all year round, and never suffer from congestion. Navigation on the Seine runs 360 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Safety: of all the different forms of transport, the waterways are the gentlest on your goods and on the environment.

Savings: river transport consumes 5 times less energy than road haulage, and half that of rail transport.

Simplicity: no time wasted getting exceptional transport authorisations or adjusting itineraries.
