The Autonomous Port of Paris has worked hard to foster the development of the kind of "metro system for goods" that is indispensable to the urban economy and ecology (removal of household waste, industrial transport or transport for the building and public works sector). But for all these facilities on the river and its banks, which are such sensitive sites, the PAP makes every effort to ensure that they fit into the landscape, are environmentally-friendly and are of high architectural and planning standards.

This effort is part of the €225.4 million in investments scheduled by the PAP for the period 2007-2011, which will enable it to further the priorities of combined container transport, direct river-sea services and the creation of new platforms.
